Hatfield Road Methodist Church

St Albans Learning for Leisure courses are held in the Aldersgate Lounge of the Hatfield Road Methodist Church, Hatfield Road, St Albans AL1 4JX.

Getting there

There are a dozen parking spaces at the church, accessed from Glenferrie Road, and there is step-free access from the car park. If the car park is full you can also park in nearby Blandford Road for morning courses and in Glenferrie and Sandfield Roads for afternoon courses.
Several bus routes pass the church including the 301, 302, 601 and 602. The church is a 10-15 minute walk from St Albans City Station.

What happens during the session?

When you arrive you will be asked to check off your name on our attendance list – this is important in case of a fire. You can then find a seat, and chat to your neighbour, or just wait for the talk to start.
Each session lasts two hours, but we have a refreshment break for about 10 minutes half-way through. We ask for a 30p donation each session to cover the cost of the refreshments, or you can pay once at the start of the course to cover all the sessions. Each week a couple of people attending the course will organise the refreshments, supplying biscuits and milk, with their costs reimbursed from the donations.
Most tutors like their sessions to be interactive so you can ask a question at any point.
At the end of the session we ask that you help us by moving your chair to the side of the room.
